WATCHING SUNSET & ENJOYING YOUR BREAKFAST IN “CAI BE FLOATING MARKET”, WHY NOT?
Cai Be is considered as one of the 3 well-known floating markets in Mekong Delta region, Tien Giang Province,Vietnam About 70km away from Saigon, Tien Giang is situated in the North of the Tien River. The floating market lies in the middle of three provinces’ borders: Tien Giang, Vinh Long as well as Ben Tre.
Different from other floating markets in Vietnam and Thailand, Cai Be is considered one of the largest wholesale markets in the Mekong delta region. About 3.00 am in the early morning, approximately 400 to 500 boats filled with fruits, vegetables, and other products from many directions are anchored along the banks of the river. The sign for travelers to recognize which boats are selling is that goods are hung on poles also called “cay beo”.
Unfortunately the floating market of Cai Be is getting smaller every year. Instead, everyone is shifting more and more into modern markets. But in recent years, cause Cai Be locals continue to developing tourism, many mobile stalls have been appeared for selling food and drinks to serve the locals and tourists.
👉 How to get there?
Cai Be is not very far away from Saigon, about 70km away from Saigon,take approx 2 hours by car from downtown ( Dist 1). When you arrive Cai Be, you’ll board a motor boat taking you to the floating market . The market always selling from the early morning to the noon.
