Tourists easily meet a peaceful oasis where many kinds of herbs gather together and where farmers work the land by hand without any modern support machines or just a simple view – lazy water buffaloes lounging in the mud.
Located 3 km away from the center of Hoi An and less than 20km from Danang City. Tra Que – traditional herbs village in Cam Ha, Hoi An town, Quang Nam province is well-known as the only freshest and cleanest vegetable without toxic and chemical supporters for Hoi An local foods. The village has 220 agricultural households, of which 130 are growing vegetables on an area of 40 hectares with more than 41 kinds of vegetables, especially many famous kinds of vegetables such as basil,coriander, chives … Once mixing vegetables together will create a mixture of full 5 unique flavors: spicy, sour, sweet, bitter and acrid. Vietnam has many craft, vegetable villages but it’s no hope to find a unique vegetable village like Tra Que Village.
Activities at Tra Que village:
Coming to Tra Que village, beside watching vegetable’s fields, tourists can experience a day of being farmer and learning plant growing technique from the villagers as harvesting, growing, watering,… In addition, walking, cycling or even riding a buffalo in the streets fulled of vegetable smell is one of an interesting activity for tourists.
Tra Que is not only a famous brand for growing high quality vegetables but also an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists. In warm spring, we come to Tra Que traditional village to enjoy the aromas of vegetables. Moreover, tourist can enjoy the folk dishes of Quang Nam as pancakes, mixed salad cooked by the ocal chef and willing to guide if you want to learn to cook dishes, how great it is!!!
– Depending on each vegetable type, the price of vegetables is from 5,000 VND to 40,000 VND, slightly increases during Tet season.
– If you are finding a place for a gorgeous photograph, Tra Que is also a perfect choice of stunning sunset/ sunrise photos.
– The entrance fee is free, of course.
– Every year, on the 7th of lunar January, Tra Que villagers organize the “Cau Bong festival” to pray for a good weather and successful harvest season. Tourists can plan a visit to Tra Que village in this time.
– It’s more interesting if you can find a famous 92-year-old couple to hear their romantic story
If you ever find yourself in Hoi An, I highly recommend this place as a little side trip! Spend a half day to visit the peaceful village. Be a hard-working farmer and learn how to plant as well as cook daily dishes of local people here.
